Uganda is a country in East Africa that has a population of 32,369,558.  The major languages spoken are English and Luganda, and the major religions are Roman Catholicism and Protestant Christianity.  The literacy rate is 76.8% for males and 57.7% for females (CIA World Factbook).  Uganda’s people have endured violence and displacement in recent years as a result of conflict initiated by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA).  The children of Uganda have faced orphanhood due to AIDS, abduction and forced military service in the LRA, and displacement which decreases their access to education and other resources (UNICEF).

Uganda will be coordinated through the team in Kenya.  This is our first year of partnership.
